DanceNOW [NYC] presents nicholas leichter dance's new THE WHIZ: EMERALD
CITY, the Wizard of Oz for the Obama generation, as a part of the
Spring 2010 Dancemopolitan series. Featuring a brand new commissioned
score by Monstah Black performed live with added selections.

Performances at Joe's Pub are March 18 at 7:30pm, March 19 at 8:00pm,
and March 20 at 9:30pm.
Tickets are $15 in advance at 212-967-7555 or $20 at the door.

Joe's Pub is located at 425 Lafayette Street, between Fourth Street and
Astor Place in New York City.

Ruby Slipper Contest: Audience members can enter to win "Best of Oz"
fashion. Each night, the most creative attired OZ fashionista will be

THE WHIZ was commissioned by DanceNOW [NYC] in partnership with Joe's
Pub at The Public Theater and Abrons Arts Center, with additional
commissioning support from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. THE
WHIZ is funded by New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) through
the National Dance Project (NDP) with generous support from the Doris
Duke Charitable Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Ford
Foundation, and the MetLife Community Connections Fund of the MetLife
Foundation. Funds to underwrite the general operating support
associated with this project were generously provided by the Doris Duke
Charitable Foundation. Additional funding for THE WHIZ was provided by
the American Music Center Live Music for Dance Program, New York State
Council on the Arts (NYSCA), & the National Endowment for the Arts
(NEA).
