THE VOID: A HORROR STORY Sets Cast and Creative Team for UK Tour

Thunder Road Theatre, in association with Watford Palace Theatre, has announced the cast and creative team for The Void: A Horror Story - an immersive sci-fi horror that blurs the boundaries between theatre and film.

Bringing together award-winning theatre-makers, screen actors, filmmakers, illusion designers and visual artists, The Void creates the experience of being inside a horror film - without ever leaving the theatre.

Alex Moran (Flint) and Ryan Simons (Blair) will reprise their original roles. Moran has previously appeared in War Horse (National Theatre), A Clockwork Orange (Arcola Theatre), and Quality Street (Northern Broadsides and New Vic Theatre). Ryan Simons' extensive stage work includes Firebird (Lawrence Batley Theatre), Kes (Perth Theatre Royal) and Lord of the Flies (Pilot Theatre Company).

They are joined by leading theatre and screen performers, including Olwen May as the voice of NOVA, known for The Bay, Riot Women and Happy Valley, Riana Duce as Phebus, seen in Ridley Scott's Gladiator II (Paramount Pictures) & Napoleon (Sony Pictures) and Dracula: The Untold Story (Imitating the Dog and Leeds Playhouse), Terence Rae is Miner, whose work includes Outlander: Blood of My Blood (Sony Pictures), The Cyclops (National Theatre / Cast Doncaster), and The Heroes Who Made Us - the 75th Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (UK Tattoo and Aus/NZ International Tour), and Emma Leah Golding as Ru, seen in Boom Box: Beats and Betrayal (HBO Max), and Hapless (Amazon Prime).

The production brings together an ambitious creative and production team spanning theatre, film and visual arts, including: Ryan Simons (Writer/Director), Alex Moran (Producer), Steve Marmion (Dramaturg), Caitlin Mawhinney (Set and Costume Designer), Jason Furnival (Associate Director), Ben Parsons (Composer), Andrew Crofts (Lighting Designer), Jay & Joss for Fine Entertainment (Illusion Designers), Dave Hackney (Director of Photography), Dominic P Patel (Technical Manager), Jess Rooney (Marketing Manager), Darcy Cole (Vision), Katlin Howard (Fight Director), Will Hunter (Set Construction), Nikoleta Tzani (Prosthetics and Makeup Artist), Sophia Constance (Scenic Painter), Kitty Winter (Costume Assistant), and Rebecca Pitt (Graphic Designer).

Ryan Simons, Writer and Director said, 'There's something inherently frightening about being alone in space, with nowhere to run and no idea what's waiting in the dark. The Void gives us the chance to really lean into that isolation and paranoia. You can watch a horror film from the safety of your home, but there's something very different about being in the room when it unfolds - hearing it, seeing it and feeling the tension build around you.'

Actor Riana Duce, who plays Phebus, said, 'My time filming for The Void encapsulated everything I love about modern theatre and multi-media performances. At every step of the way, the team considered how the filmed elements would tie in with and expand the physical on-stage world, and I was so excited to be part of the process of piecing it all together. My character, Phebus, holds some truths within the play's backstory. I can't wait for audiences to see how she fits into the mystery, and hopefully give them a few scares along the way!'
