THE COMEDIANS' CHOICE AWARDS 2026 to Reveal Edinburgh Fringe Shortlists
Alison Spittle will host the ceremony at The Three Sisters, with nominees including Lara Ricote and Elf Lyons.
British Comedy Guide, in association with Angel Comedy, has revealed the shortlists for the 2026 Comedians' Choice Awards, as voted for by comedians performing at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Nine productions have been shortlisted for Best Show: "Be Good!" with Paulette, Dan Tiernan: Quartz and All, Elf Lyons is The Woman on the Edge, Kate Dolan: Trout, Lady Bolognese: Class War, Lara Ricote: INKLING, Sid Singh: Love Bombing, Tom Short: I Get ChatGPT To Write My Edinburgh Show and UNDERGROUND MONK SHOW.
The Best Newcomer shortlist features Ben McCarthy, Ethan & Gigi, Evaldas Karosas, Lady Bolognese, Lawrence Dodd, Madeleine Brettingham, Marty Gleeson, Paul Hilleard, Sam Eley, Sapphire McIntosh and Zoe Wohlfeld.
Voting remains open until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25.
The winners of Best Show, Best Newcomer and Best Person will be announced at the Comedians' Choice Awards ceremony on Wednesday, August 26 at 4:30 p.m. at The Three Sisters (Maggie's Front Room). The ceremony will be hosted by 2025 Best Show winner Alison Spittle and is free to attend.
Founded in 2014, the Comedians' Choice Awards are determined by performers' peers and were created to recognize work at the Edinburgh Fringe that might otherwise go unrecognized.
All three winners will receive a trophy. With support from Angel Comedy and Flick Morris PR, the Best Show and Best Newcomer winners will also be offered a London transfer to The Bill Murray, a week of free rehearsal space and a preview at The Bill Murray for a future show, as well as a £500 discount on an Edinburgh Fringe PR package with Flick Morris PR.
