The Theatre Development Fund will open a temporary TKTS Ticket Booth today, Monday, May 1 at 3pm, for same-day discount tickets in the theatre district just outside the New York Marriott Marquis hotel on West 46th Street, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue.

This temporary location, expected to be in place for several months, (which is only one block away from the current TKTS Booth in Duffy Square) is in preparation for the complete revitalization of Father Duffy Square, which begins in early May. The project to revitalize Duffy Square, designated a New York City park, will include a new TKTS Booth. It is expected to be completed by late December 2006.

"We're thrilled that after having operated for nearly 33 years in a temporary structure, TKTS is on its way to having a permanent home by the end of 2006," said TDF's executive director, Victoria Bailey. "We're very grateful to the New York Marriott Marquis and its general manager, Mike Stengel, for giving TKTS a temporary home during the construction period. We're committed to making the transition as effortless as possible for the theatergoing public and the theatre industry. We also want to remind people that there is a second TKTS Ticket Booth for their convenience at South Street Seaport at the corner of Front and John Streets."

The temporary TKTS Booth is located just outside the New York Marriott Marquis on West 46th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue. The booth was constructed inside a former retail space at street level. Patrons will queue up to 12 selling windows in the walkway that extends between West 46th and West 45th Street, heading south, and if needed, will continue west on 45th Street towards Eighth Avenue.

The hours of operation for the temporary TKTS Booth will be the same as they were in Duffy Square: Monday - Saturday from 3pm - 8pm for 8pm performances; Wednesday and Saturday from 10am - 2pm for 2pm matinee performances; and Sundays from 11am - 3pm for matinee performances, and 3pm - closing for Sunday evening performances.

The hours for of operation for TKTS at South Street Seaport (which is located at the corner of Front and John Streets) are: Monday - Saturday from 11am - 6pm and Sunday from 11am - 4pm. At the South Street TKTS location matinee tickets are only sold the day before performance (ie, Wednesday matinee tickets sold on Tuesday; Saturday matinee tickets sold on Friday, and Sunday matinee tickets sold on Saturday).

The project to revitalize Father Duffy Square is a partnership between The Times Square Alliance, Theatre Development Fund and the Coalition for Father Duffy in cooperation with the City of New York.

A groundbreaking event is planned for Tuesday, May 2.
