Frances Sternhagen, who currently stars as Clairee in the Broadway revival of Steel Magnolias, will receive the Women of Achievement Award, at the Women's Project's 20th Annual Women of Achievement Gala on Monday, June 6 at Cipriani 23rd Street.
Sternhagen has received a plethora of awards throughout her long and distinguished acting career. Recently, she was honored with the Lucille Lortel Organization's 2005 Edith
Oliver Award for Sustained Excellence in the Theatre. Nominated 7
times for a Tony® Award, Sternhagen has received it twice for The Good Doctor and The Heiress. She has also won the Obie, Clarence Derwent Award, Drama League and Dramatists Guild Awards.
Steel Magnolias, which is written by Robert Harling and directed by Jason Moore, also stars Delta Burke as Truvy, Christine Ebersole as M'Lynn, Rebecca Gayheart as Shelby, Marsha Mason as Ouiser and Lily Rabe as Annelle.
