"It's an honor to be hosting this event that celebrates the unique contribution of female songwriters and artists in rock n' roll, and to support the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls." - Holly Knight, Grammy Award-winning songwriter

"The messages of 'Women Rock' connect deeply with the objectives of WMRC: honoring the women who shaped rock n' roll, illuminating the breadth of the genre, and celebrating the women who have elevated the music industry, but who have gone unsung. WMRC is thrilled to be a recipient of the 'Women Rock' proceeds." - Jennifer Kessler, Executive Director of the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls

Holly Knight has had a wild ride in the music business that ignited when she met her future songwriting partner and producer, Mike Chapman. The duo penned Spider's single, "Better Be Good To Me," with music icon Tina Turner later recording the hit on her album Private Dancer. Knight/Chapman's success continued when the pair wrote the iconic smash, "Love Is A Battlefield" for Pat Benatar, "The Warrior" for Patty Smyth, "Change" for John Waite, "Baby Me" for Chaka Khan, "Never" for Heart, "Pleasure and Pain" for Divinyls, and Benatar's "Invincible." As an independent songwriter, Knight has written nine songs for Turner, including "The Best," which became one of the pop icon's signature songs. Knight also wrote "Love Touch" for Rod Stewart, "Obsession" for Animotion, "Hide Your Heart" for KISS, "Rag Doll' with Aerosmith, and "Space" for Cheap Trick. Knight's notable works have led her to win three Grammys and thirteen ASCAP Songwriter Awards.

Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls (WMRC) is a non-profit music and social justice organization that empowers more than 500 girls and women in New York City through music education, volunteerism, and activities that foster safer spaces, self-respect, leadership skills, creativity and collaboration. The organization is named after Willie Mae Thornton, one of the first women in rock n' roll.
