Smith and Gilliland to Star in L.A. 'Balancing Act'

The Falcon Theatre has announced the cast for the American premiere of Balancing Act, written by Emmy Award-winner Frank Salisbury.  Balancing Act, the fifth and final show in the Falcon's 2006-07 subscription season, opens Friday, April 20th at 8pm.  It will run through May 6th.  The show begins previews on April 11th.

"After embezzling a small fortune from his employer, executive Eugene Ormsby (Richard Gilliland) is skipping the country.  But before he can catch his flight, by-the-book accountant Beth Washburn (Emmy-winner Yeardley Smith) arrives at his doorstep.  She's found several inconsistencies in the company ledgers and fears that someone is cooking the books.  Eugene realizes that he must silence his new liability, one way or another, in Frank Salisbury's suspense-filled comedy, "state press materials on the show.  Adam Carl directs.  

Yeardley Smith ('Beth Washburn') has appeared on Broadway, television and films, including: The Real Thing; "Dharma and Greg;" "The Simpsons" (Emmy Award); "The Legend of Billie Jean;" City Slickers; and As Good As It Gets.  She performed her one-woman show, MORE, at the Falcon in 2005, having previously performed it Off-Broadway at the Union Square Theatre.

 Gilliland ('Eugene Ormsby ') has appeared in over 100 guest starring and series regular roles on television.  Notable are: "Designing Women," thirtysomething," "Heartland," "24," "Joan of Arcadia," "The Practice," "Matlock," "Judging Amy" and "Crossing Jordan." Feature films include:  Dogwatch, Stay Hungry, Starkid, Home Room and Playing Dangerous II.  He was recently seen as 'Oliver Pemberton' in the Falcon Theatre's production of I Remember You, and as 'Salieri' in The Phoenix Theatre production of Amadeus.  Off-Broadway he has starred in Little Egypt and The Penis Responds by Ernest Thompson.  Other theatre includes the LA premieres of Spine, White People Christmas, Cops, and Beyond Therapy.
