Singing with the Broadway Stars Auditions Held 1/8-2/8/2010 At The Center

The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University (1 University Parkway, University Park, IL 60484) proudly announces convenient virtual auditions for the chance to join five Broadway stars on stage in "Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway," being performed at The Center Sunday, March 14 at 4 p.m. Online submissions will start being accepted on Monday, Jan. 8 at 12:01 a.m. and the final deadline is Friday, Feb. 8 at 11:59 p.m. Submission guidelines are posted at www.singingwiththebroadwaystars.com.

"Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway" offers The Center's audience the opportunity to enjoy brilliantly revived arrangements of Broadway classics featuring the actual Broadway stars of such shows as "The Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables," "Cats," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Jekyll & Hyde" and more.

One winner and up to eight runners-up will be selected by the show's panel of industry experts, including producers, singers, and managers as well as Pianist and Arranger Neil Berg. Winners will be announced Friday, Feb. 12, and notified via phone or e-mail.

To submit, contestants should upload a 90 to 120 second video clip of themselves singing a favorite Broadway tune to YouTube, MySpace, or Facebook, and then go to www.singingwiththebroadwaystars.com and select the link to "March 14: University Park." Fill out the submission form and send a link to the posted video by Friday, Feb. 8 at 11:59 p.m. The expert panel will judge the audition videos to choose the lucky winners who will have chance to showcase their vocal talents in front of their family and friends, live on stage with five Broadway stars and an all-star New York Band.

Winners will also receive a pair of complimentary tickets for their family and friends to see their "Broadway" debut.

Show Ticket and Subscription Information

"Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway" performs at The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University for one night only, Sunday, March 14 at 4 p.m. Single tickets and subscriptions for The Center's 15th Anniversary 2009-2010 Season are currently on sale. Single tickets are $26 - $46. For subscription and single ticket information call The Center's friendly Box Office staff at (708) 235-2222 or visit centertickets.net. All audition participants will be entitled to a 15% discount on any price level ticket (please visit www.singingwiththebroadwaystars.com for more information on this special discount offer). Buy one, get one free tickets are available at the box office two hours prior to curtain for one hour only, based upon availability. The Center is located at 1 University Parkway (Governors Highway and University Parkway), 45 minutes south of the Loop, off I-57 at Sauk Trail. Parking is free.

Contest Submission Guidelines and Rules

1) This is an audition, not a contest or sweepstakes.

2) Submission must be video of a Broadway show tune 90-120 seconds long and posted to a Myspace, Facebook,or YouTube page. Applicants must fill out the appropriate submission form found at www.singingwiththebroadwaystars.com and include contact information and link to their audition video by Friday, Feb. 8 at 11:59 p.m.

3) Entrants must be at least 13 years of age to submit their video.

5) Winners under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent.

6) No purchase is necessary. The winners and runners-up will each receive a pair of complimentary tickets to the show.

7) All winners must arrive at the theater 3 hours before show time the day of the show, appropriately dressed, and stay for the whole production. The producers of the show reserve the right to exclude anyone who does not meet these criteria.

8) The runners-up will perform as part of the ensemble in one song during the show.

9) The winner will sing a short solo in at least one song in the show.

10) Winners and runners-up may be asked to do interviews for local media.

11) All submitted videos will become the property of Left Field Productions and may be used in any appropriate manner to promote the "Singing with the Broadway Stars" platform. No submissions will be sold.
