Shoshana Bean and Jeremy Jordan Will Announce 2019 Drama League Award Nominees On April 17

The Drama League has announced, today, that Shoshana Bean and Jeremy Jordan, who both currently star in Waitress, will announce the 2019 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award.

The announcement event takes place on Wednesday morning, April 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sardi's (234 West 44th Street, 4th Floor) and will be streamed live via BroadwayWorld.com

Shoshana Bean is currently appearing on Broadway in the role of Jenna in the hit musical Waitress. Her latest album Spectrum landed her at #1 on the Billboard Jazz Charts. She made her Broadway debut in the original cast of Hairspray and starred as the first replacement for Elphaba in Wicked. Most recently, she appeared as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl and as Cee-Cee Bloom in the new musical adaptation of Beaches, for which she earned a Jeff Award Nomination for best lead actress in a musical.

Jeremy Jordan recently joined the cast of the hit Broadway musical Waitress playing opposite Shoshana Bean, in the role of Dr. Pomatter. He is thrilled to make his return to the musical stage after recently starring opposite Kerry Washington in the provocative Broadway play American Son. Other Broadway credits: Newsies (Tony, Grammy and Drama Desk nominations), Bonnie & Clyde (Theatre World Award), West Side Story, Rock of Ages. TV: Winn Schott in "Supergirl," Jimmy Collins in "Smash," "The Flash," "Law and Order: SVU." Film: The Last 5 Years opposite Anna Kendrick, Joyful Noise with Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton, Newsies. The nominations announcement kicks off a month of celebration leading up to the 85th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon. The Awards event includes a VIP cocktail reception, seated luncheon, and the awards presentation, and will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Marriott Marquis Times Square's Broadway Ballroom (1535 Broadway).

First awarded in 1922 and formalized in 1935, The Drama League Awards are the oldest theatrical honors in America. The Drama League Awards recognize distinguished productions, performances, and exemplary career achievements. The first Drama League Award was for Distinguished Performance, and was presented to Katharine Cornell in 1935. Since then, the Distinguished Performance Award has been accorded to a roster of theater legends such as Glenda Jackson, Ben Platt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Chita Rivera, Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Lane, Audra McDonald, Mark Rylance, Alfred Molina, Geoffrey Rush, Liam Neeson, Hugh Jackman, Patti LuPone, Glenn Close, Liev Schreiber, Harvey Fierstein, Cherry Jones, Alec Guinness, James Earl Jones, Helen Hayes, Jeremy Irons, Mary-Louise Parker, Sir Ian McKellen, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Plummer, to name a few.
