A benefit screening of the documentary The Lady in Question Is Charles Busch, celebrating the envelope-pushing playwright and actor, will be presented on March 16th.

Presented by New York's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in collaboration with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the 8:30 PM showing of the new documentary at the Quad Cinema (34 W. 13th St.) will be preceded by 7 PM cocktails at the LGBT Community Center (208 W. 11th St.). Busch, as well as frequent co-star Julie Halston (Gypsy, Hairspray), is expected to turn out for the cocktail party.

According to press notes, The Lady in Question is Charles Busch is "a magnificent cinematic portrait of the visionary drag artist extraordinaire" that "movingly reveals the man beneath the wig." Proceeds from the screening will benefit the LGBT Community Center.

Busch received Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominations for his Broadway play The Tale of the Allergist's Wife and also penned the book of the musical Taboo. His off-Broadway credits as a playwright include Queen Amarantha, Red Scare on Sunset, The Lady in Question, Psycho Beach Party (in whose film version he also starred) and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom. He also wrote and starred in the film Die, Mommy, Die! and appeared in the title role of Auntie Mame, which was presented as a benefit stage reading for BC/EFA. Busch also penned the novel Whores of Lost Atlantis.

Tickets, which are $100, are available by visiting www.gaycenter.org. For more on Busch, visit www.charlesbusch.com.
