Breakout star and New York City Ballet principal dancer Sara Mearns takes the discipline and precision of her training outside classical ballet in a Joyce Theater Production of her very own. On this continued journey of creative self-discovery, she invites new collaborators into her artistic orbit who challenge her and themselves, breaking the boundaries of dance by spanning mediums and reimagining genres. This world-class ballerina will take on works by the likes of contemporary dance choreographer and performance creator Beth Gill; celebrated New York City-based choreographer, dancer, and teacher Jodi Melnick; National Ballet of Canada principal dancer and choreographic associate Guillaume Côté; a new duet by dancer and choreographer Vinson Fraley, of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company; and a Cunningham MinEvent featuring Sara Mearns, Taylor Stanley, Jaquelin Harris, Chalvar Monteiro, Jodi Melnick, and Burr Johnson, staged by Rashaun Mitchell & Silas Riener, and featuring live music by John King.
