Three years ago Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark played its first performance on Broadway -- an evening that is now the stuff of Broadway lore. In the ensuing years, the production has made an unprecedented glowing impact on New York City and the theater world. The production has employed a total of 1,100 people and pumped an estimated $870 million into the local economy. Audience members representing 45 countries from around the globe have seen the production, including approximately 750,000 first time theatergoers. The show, arguably the most famous in Broadway history, has generated an estimated 200,000 headlines around the world. It has been enjoyed by everyone from the world's richest man, Carlos Slim, to Joan Rivers, and has been seen multiple times by its most fervent fans, including one fan who has attended 219 times to date.

As was previously announced, the flagship production of Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark will play its historic final New York performance on January 4, 2014, before moving to Las Vegas, the Entertainment Capital of the World.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is currently the 16th highest grossing Broadway production of all time, having taken in more than $200 million at the box office. The show has been seen by approximately two million fans, and will have played 1,268 performances by the time it takes its final bow at the Foxwoods Theatre.

The fastest show in Broadway history to reach one million audience members, SPIDER-MAN also shattered the record for the highest single-week gross of any show in Broadway history for the week ending Sunday, January 1, 2012; shattered the Broadway single-week attendance record that same week, playing to 17,375 audience members (100.02% capacity of The Foxwoods Theatre); set the weekly box office record of $2,941,790.20; and shattered the annual box office record of the Foxwoods Theatre by almost $35 million.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy Award-winners Bono and The Edge and a book co-written byJulie Taymor, Glen Berger and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, with direction by Ms. Taymor and additional direction by Philip William McKinley. Scenic Designer George Tsypin and Costume Designer Eiko Ishioka are winners of Outer Critics Circle Awards and were nominated for Tony Awards for their work on Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark.

The world's most recognizable Super Hero leaps off the comic book pages and onto the Broadway stage in Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark. Peter Parker's ordinary teenage life takes a turn for the extraordinary when he's bitten by a genetically altered spider and suddenly finds himself endowed with incredible superpowers. Parker quickly learns that with great power comes great responsibility as he tries to juggle the demands of high school and home life, while battling the Green Goblin and his band of super villains as they try to take down New York City and destroy everything Peter holds dear - including the beautiful girl-next-door, Mary Jane Watson. This high-flying groundbreaking and history-making production brings this story - inspired by more than fifty years of Marvel comic books - thrillingly to life!
