SIDE SHOW Revival Rehearsal Round-Up! Preview The New Songs, New Characters & New Look

"Come look at the freaks!" Celebrated cult musical SIDE SHOW is currently rehearsing for an out-of-town tryout at the La Jolla Playhouse under DREAMGIRLS feature film director Bill Condon's supervision, outfitted with a new book, new songs, new characters, a new look and a whole different attitude, making the Henry Krieger/Bill Russell musical a vastly rewritten, virtually new show, yet with the glimpses of greatness of the original ported over to version 2.0, as well.

The La Jolla Playhouse offered a press preview late this week, allowing a look into rehearsals with Condon, Krieger, Russell and choreographer Anthony Van Laast laying out the new SIDE SHOW 2.0 in detail for the first time.

Photos of the rehearsal press preview have now been released and members of the company have taken to social media to share some behind the scenes sneak peeks at the weird and wonderful new musical as it prepares for its premiere next month.

SIDE SHOW cast-member Keala Settle has taken to her Twitter numerous times to share a few fascinating first looks at some of the sights on display in the 2013 edition of the period-set piece - among them, Kelvin Moon Loh as the unique gender-bending figure "Half & Half From Saipan" and a ghostly gander at the Hilton Sisters themselves, Daisy and Violet (Erin Davie and Emily Padgett).

Additionally, two performance clips have just been released, as well, with the first audio clip showcasing leading ladies Erin Davie and Emily Padgett on the earworm "Like Everyone Else" and an eerie new song premiering in this rewritten revival version of SIDE SHOW highlighting the new character of Harry Houdini, titled "All In The Mind", led by featured performer Javier Ignacio.

SIDE SHOW is directed by Bill Condon, featuring a score by Henry Krieger, with book and lyrics by Bill Russell. The La Jolla Playhouse revival stars Erin Davie, Emily Padgett, Manoel Felciano, Matthew Hydzik and David St. Louis.

SIDE SHOW runs November 5 through December 15 at the La Jolla Playhouse and will continue its run at the Kennedy Center on June 14 through July 13, 2014. For more information, visit the official Facebook page here.
