Sarah Ruhl's acclaimed play Eurydice will complete Second Stage's 2006-2007 season line-up.

The play by the author of The Clean House recently garnered critical praise at Yale Rep, where it premiered in 2004.  Les Waters, who previously directed the show in its earlier incarnation, will once again helm Eurydice for Second Stage, where it will begin previews on May 29th, 2007 and open on June 12th.  It will play through July 21st.

Eurydice is Ruhl's fantastical modern adaptation of the classic Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.  "When she abruptly dies on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey through the underworld, reunite with her father and struggle to retain memories of her lost love. With contemporary characters, ingenious twists of plot, and breathtaking visual effects, this award-winning play is truly a fresh look at a timeless love story," state Second Stage notes.

Ruhl was recently awarded a MacArthur Fellowship.  She also won the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn Award and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for The Clean House, which recently opened at Lincoln Center Theatre.  Her other plays include Melancholy Play, Eurydice, and Late: A Cowboy Song and Passion Play.

Second Stage Theatre's 2006-2007 season also includes Theresa Rebeck's The Scene and Terrence McNally's Some Men.
