Roberts, Dench React to OSCAR Nominations

Actor Chris Hemsworth and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced the 86th Academy Awards® nominations this morning, Thursday, January 16. Boone Isaacs and Hemsworth unveiled the nominations at a news conference at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, where hundreds of media representatives from around the world gathered.

As BWW previously reported, several Broadway vets were among those honored with an Oscar nomination. Julia Roberts, nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Tracy Letts big screen adaptation of August Osage County told PEOPLE this morning, "This was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And the recognition from it is an absolutely thrilling bonus. I simply could not be more excited right now."

Amy Adams, who starred in the Public Theater's 'Into the Woods' also received a nod for her performance in American Hustle. "I'm very honored to be nominated alongside such inspiring actresses. Congratulations to the cast and crew of American Hustle and Her, two films that I'm incredibly proud to be a part of," she told PEOPLE.

Philomena star and theater veteran Judi Dench told the site of her nomination, "This is just the loveliest news. I'm so happy for everybody involved, and so proud to have been part of the wonderful experience that Philomena has been."

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2013 will be presented on Oscar® Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The presentation, produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide. Ellen DeGeneres will host the ceremonies.
