River Rep to Close in CT

River Rep Theatre Company, the New York City-based professional Equity troupe that brought live, award-winning productions to the lower Connecticut River region for almost 20 years, will no longer be producing there.

In a letter to supports Joan Shepard, Warren Kelley, Evan Thompson, Owen Thompson, Jenn Thompson, and Stephen Kunken said:

"Dear Friends:

This message seems to be the best way to inform you all personally that River Rep is moving on and won't be producing theatre in Connecticut in the foreseeable future. We searched exhaustively for a venue and had high hopes of finding a place that would enable us to grow artistically, survive financially, and continue bringing you the shows you loved, but it was not to be.

Our hearts are full of sadness, but also full of happy memories of the 20 years we spent with you. Your devotion and support have meant more than we can ever fully express. We will always cherish the years of joy and laughter we shared. You made those years possible, and you will always have our gratitude.

Thank you, one and all, our dear, dear friends."
