Rising Star Competition Continues Into Week Two with Special Guests Leo Ash Evens, Joel Waggoner, and Adam Overett

The fourth season of the RISING STAR competition continues Tuesday October 10th!

Singers compete in an 10 week elimination style contest for a $1000 cash prize and a fully produced, paid solo show at Rise. In addition to the cash and prize package, RISING STAR offers networking opportunities with celebrity judges, fantastic exposure, and valuable live stage experience.

Industry pros scheduled to appear as judges throughout the competition include Choreographer Shea Sullivan, Christine Dwyer (WICKED), Matt DeAngelis (WAITRESS), Alysha Umphress (ON THE TOWN), Musical Director Brad Simmons (LYSISTRATA JONES, FANCY), Mike Cruz (Whole Artist Management), Rich Martino (Whole Artist Management), Natalie Weiss (American Idol), Entertainment Magazine editor Ryan Brinson (BLEEP MAGAZINE), Pop Star Ari Gold, Paul Caanan (KINKY BOOTS), Sheri Sanders (ROCK THE AUDITION), Ryann Redmond (IF/THEN), Gabe Violett (THE VOICE), Nick Adams (PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT), Telly Leung (ALLEGIANCE), Director Ben Rimalower (PATTI ISSUES), Marty Thomas (XANADU), and more.

Leo Ash Evens
Leo is an actor, singer, dancer, and voice over artist. He is currently the voice of Siemens Technology. He has appeared on Broadway in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, SHUFFLE ALONG (standby for Brooks Ashmanskas, and later taking over the role), and SCHOOL OF ROCK. Leo is also Co-Director, Co-Owner, and an esteemed teacher with MTCA (Musical Theatre College Auditions).

Joel Waggoner
Joel Waggoner is currently making his Broadway debut in SCHOOL OF ROCK. He holds an M.F.A. from NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program and currently works as a composer, performer, vocal coach, musical director, and violinist.
As a writer, his work has been performed at 54 Below, Birdland, Joe's Pub, Merkin Recital Hall, Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center, Barington Stages, Goodspeed Operahouse, NYTB, New Voices in Seattle, and Playwrights Horizons.
Joel served as the Director of Music for the Pace University Musical Theatre BFA Program from 2012-2016. Joel is a private vocal coach for MTCA (Musical Theater College Auditions, LLC), a 2012 Dramatist Guild Fellow, and a 2009 ASCAP Max Dreyfus Award Winner.
He is also a founding member of the Musical Theater Factory.

Adam Overett
Adam is a musical theater writer and performer. As a composer/lyricist/librettist, he is the creator of MY LIFE IS A MUSICAL (2014 world premiere production at Bay Street Theatre); POPESICAL; CALL IT COURAGE. He has been a Musical Theater Fellow at the Dramatists Guild, a Lucille Lortel Award nominee, and a two-time Harrington Award winner as a member of both the BMI Advanced Musical Theater Workshop and Librettists Workshop. He has also been a resident writer at the Goodspeed Mercer Colony and CAP21. As an actor, Adam has appeared on Broadway and on national tour in THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA. He played Neil Kellerman in the national tour of DIRTY DANCING, and most recently was in the cast of MURDER FOR TWO at New World Stages.
