There was a lot of purple hair and glitter in the house when Scott Mason, a Dame Edna look-a-like from Delaware, was named the Dame's Honorary Understudy Wednesday morning at Henry Miller's Theatre.
The contestants were judged on their make-up, costume, accent and "Dame-like demeanor."Speaking as Dame Edna's long-lost sister, Mason won over the judges and the audience with his own sparkling rendition of Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats." Mason has proven to be devoted to the spirit of Dame Edna in the past. In 2008, he attended an impersonators' convention and was physically assaulted by a fellow (jealous) Dame Edna look-a-like. He has truly risked life, limb and lipstick to make sure the Dame always makes an entrance! His official website can be found at www.hirethedame.com
Mason will receive a credit in the Playbill as the official honorary understudy for Dame Edna.
