Prospect Theater Company has announced its upcoming 2014 - 2015 Season productions of two new musicals: The Underclassman and Long Story Short.

To launch the season, Prospect will present The Underclassman, an original musical that explores F. Scott Fitzgerald's coming of age as a writer on the eve of World War I, and his first romance with the elusive debutante Ginevra King. With music and lyrics by Peter Mills, and book by Mills and fellow founding Prospect artist Cara Reichel, The Underclassman is inspired by Fitzgerald's first novel, This Side of Paradise, which catapulted him to fame and established him as the voice of his generation. Cara Reichel will direct, and Christine O'Grady will choreograph. Performances will begin on November 9, 2014 and the initial run will continue through November 23 at The Duke on 42nd Street, located at 229 W. 42nd Street, NYC (www.Dukeon42.org). Tickets for The Underclassman will be on sale beginning September 1st.

In 2015, Prospect's season will continue with the New York premiere of Long Story Short, with music by Brendan Milburn, lyrics by Valerie Vigoda, and book by Milburn & Vigoda, the creators of the acclaimed Off-Broadway hit Striking 12. Adapted from the two-character play An Infinite Ache by David Schulner, Long Story Short covers a romance and 50-year marriage in 95 minutes and 17 songs. This funny, frazzled couple -- one Jewish, one Asian-American -- careens from first date to old age, illuminating along their journey the challenges and joys of any long-term relationship. Long Story Short will be directed by Kent Nicholson, and play at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street in NYC, www.59e59.org) from Feb. 28 - Mar. 29, 2015.

Additional season programming will be announced as it becomes available.
