On Saturday, April 16, the Post Pilgrim Gallery will open its doors at 2121 E. 10th Street. Owner/Curator Jennifer White expressed that she is honored to be a Native woman with an opportunity like Post Pilgrim. White is planning to only feature Native art in the gallery.

White shared that, "At Post Pilgrim, it is a mission to redefine the meaning of what our culture means to us in the present. In order to fully be self-aware, artists need the absolute freedom of expression. At Post Pilgrim we carry on the long traditions of storytelling through art. At Post Pilgrim we do it with honor and pride." White continues, "I look at the artists being featured at Post Pilgrim, and I see the voices of so many being represented. The artists are portraying heartache, humor, and everything in between. It is on the shoulders of brave men and women before us that help lift our expectations of ourselves. The glass ceiling has been broken, and I have hand selected a few people whose interpretations of life speak loudly and honestly."

Native artists are celebrating White and Post Pilgrim. Paul High Horse, Post Pilgrim Artist from Omaha Nebraska, loves the concept of the Post Pilgrim Gallery. "I feel that Jennifer's intentions for this gallery are coming from a good hearted place. The impact it will have not only in the art community, but in the community as a whole, could be a defining moment for Native American galleries. Taking on this new role and new challenge will show a large audience the strong leadership skills that Jennifer possesses. I'm extremely grateful that she invited me to begin this journey with her."

It's not only artists that are praising Post Pilgrim, but Michael Pangburn, retired President of the SD Arts Council, is praising the artist /owner/curator as well. Pangburn explains that, "Jennifer is so talented. It's no secret that I'm a big fan and proud collector of her work. She is one of those rare artists who has been able to achieve commercial success while staying true to her unique artistic voice."
