Award-winning playwright Ruth Margraff, former faculty member at the Yale School of Drama, Brown's MFA Program, and UT Austin's Michener Center, will host a playwright immersion workshop on October 28th and 29th at the Hourglass Group Center, located at 520 8th Avenue (between 36th and 37th Streets) on the 3rd floor. The workshop will be from noon to 4 PM both days.
How does the play you are writing (or want to write) measure up against the world right now? How can we write beyond America's houselit yards? Is there a way to write your story from a more world-driven centrifuge? Margraff will use these questions as inspiration for her workshop, which is open to writers from all genres of playwriting, screenwriting, fiction, musical theater, poetry, solo performance, etc.Margraff is the recipient of a 2006 Fulbright Lecture/Research Award. She is an alumni of New Dramatists, a McKnight National commissioned playwright with the Playwrights Center, and will travel with Wax Factory to translate her work with Glej Theater in Ljubljana, Slovenia this fall.
