SAGE, Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders, honored Dr. Renée Richards at their 11th Annual SAGE Awards Benefit Reception and Dinner on October 30 from 6-9 p.m.

The event also honored Charles Leslie & Fritz Lohman (and the Leslie-Lohman Gay Art Foundation), Jayne Sherman and Henry van Ameringen (and "In the Life") and Amy Ashworth and was held downtown at The Ritz-Carlton, New York, Battery Park.  Tony Award-winner Melba Moore (Purlie, Les Miserables) performed at the event.

SAGE Awards are presented each year to individuals, organizations, and companies who have made significant contributions and thereby enriched the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) persons, particularly the senior and elder members of the GLBT community.
 
The evening's program also included tributes by Kate Clinton, Dr. Billy Jones, Dr. Elliot Gross and Joe Raddocia.  The event raised $340,000 for SAGE's programs and services and was attended by 450 people.
