Photo Coverage: Tony & Oscar Winner Catherine Martin Honored at Gold Coast Gala

The Gold Coast International Film Festival began its seven-day run on Nov. 3rd. It will feature more than 40 short films, art films foreign films and appearances by filmmakers. In just its fourth year, the festival has grown so large and so popular that it will need theaters in Great Neck, Manhasset, Roslyn and Port Washington to accommodate all of the screenings and doings.
The Gold Coast Arts Center (Great Neck Arts) was the brainchild of Regina Gil. "My mission in life", said Regina, "is to expose people to the arts so that artists are supported and nurtured, and that other people have an understanding and respect and love for it."
She's done that for the more than 100,000 people who have visited the Gold Coast Arts Center and today it boasts its own modern, spacious building and offers classes for both youngsters and adults, three film festivals a year a gallery for exhibits, hands-on workshops, an extensive summer school for children and live performances. It has a staff of over 100. Regina Keller Gil is the founder and Executive Director and Caroline Sorokoff is the Associate Director and Director of The Film Festival.
This year the Gold Coast took over Leonard's New Palazzo for its Gala 2014 which honored 4 Time Oscar Winner and Tony Winner Catherine Martin as its "Artist of Distinction", Michael S. Glickman as "Man of the Year", and Marie Cecile Flageul & Jonathan Cohen (Meres One) with the "Arts & Activism" Award and broadwayworld was there.
