Photo Coverage: '13: A New Musical' Hits The Recording Studio

BroadwayWorld.com's cameras were on hand as the cast, creative team and band of '13, A New Musical' sang and played their hearts out while recording the original Broadway cast album. The recording will be released digitally as of 9/30, and will be available for purchase at The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre soon thereafter. A CD version will be in stores in time for the Holiday season. '13, A New Musical' is "A grown-up story about growing up, featuring the only all-teenage cast ever to hit Broadway".
The OCR was recorded in New York City over Labor Day weekend, and was produced by Jeffrey Lesser and Jason Robert Brown, and Executive Produced by Ghostlight President Kurt Deutsch and Bill Rosenfield. This was a rare instance where the cast album is recorded before performances have officially begun. Ghostlight is continues their relationship with Jason Robert Brown, having already released the hugely successful cast album of The Last Five Years as well as his solo album, Wearing Someone Else's Clothes.'13, A New Musical' features music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade, The Last Five Years). The show begins previews on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 and officially opens at The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W. 45th Street) on Sunday, October 5, 2008. With a book by award winning children's author & songwriter Dan Elish ("Born Too Short, Confessions of an 8th Grade Basket Case") and veteran writer for TV and film Robert Horn ("Designing Women"), '13, A New Musical' is directed by Tony Award nominee Jeremy Sams (The Sound of Music in the West End) and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific). Tom Kitt (High Fidelity) is the Music Director.
