Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, currently the longest-running show in Broadway history, will see production this fall at the Cadillace Palace Theatre, under the direction of Harold Prince. The show will run a limited eight-week holiday engagement, Wednesday, October 21—Saturday, January 5, 2008.
Based on Gaston Leroux'a novel, Le Fantôme de l'Opéra, the now legendary story of the masked figure living beneath the Paris Opera House won seven 1988 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and has grossed over $3 billion in worldwide box office sales. The show surpassed Cats' record of the longest-running Broadway show on January 9, 2006. The second national tour of Phantom played Chicago in 1990, 1993, and 1998, and the third national tour enjoyed a six-week engagement there in 2004.
