Penobscot Theatre Company Announces New Year Tribute to Tom Petty Penobscot Theatre Company and Tundra Productions invite audiences to free fall into the New Year with an evening of pure rock-n-roll. Last Dance: An Evening of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will play for two performances only, 6:00 and 9:00 pm, at the Bangor Opera House.

The show, featuring a wide array of Petty's catalog, is more than just a greatest hits concert. Last Dance invites audiences into the studio while sharing insight into Petty's humble beginnings, his rise to stardom, his songwriting process and the history of his legendary backing band, The Heartbreakers. Led by Jeremy Sevelovitz, best known in the Bangor region for his portrayal of Johnny Cash in Penobscot Theatre Company's 2015 production of Ring of Fire, this all-star band features New York talents, Eric Anthony (Broadway's Ring of Fire, Buddy Holly Nat'l Tour) and Dom Scott (Rock of Ages Nat'l Tour, Million Dollar Quartet) as well as Penobscot Theatre Company members Ira Kramer (Spitfire Grill), Heather Astbury-Libby (Rock of Ages), Gaylen Smith (Ring of Fire) and Tom Libby (Rock Revolution). "I've always loved Tom Petty!" says Sevelovitz, "Not just because every song he wrote was a classic, and I love playing them, but also because he stuck to his guns and fought for integrity in the music industry while remaining humble, with a cooler-than-cool attitude. The man was a rock-star through and through."

Penobscot Theatre Company Producing Artistic Director, Bari Newport shares Jeremy's passion. "I never get tired of this music. It is music that reaches the roots of my soul." Last Dance features twenty-three classic hits including "Mary Jane's Last Dance," "It's Good To Be King," "Wildflowers," "Learning to Fly," "Refugee" and "American Girl." Last Dance: An Evening of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is made possible with generous support from Otelco.
