Parthenia, New York's premiere viol consort, will be in concert on Sunday, December 3 at 4:00 PM, performing "Nothing Proved - New Works for Viols, Voice and Electronics" at Picture Ray Studio, 245 W. 18th St. in Manhattan.

The concert celebrates the recent release of Parthenia's newest disc on MSR Classics called Nothing Proved - New Works for Viols, Voice and Electronics, which features works that Parthenia commissioned over the past decade by American composers Kristin Norderval, Tawnie Olson and Frances White. The quartet, with guest Baritone Malcolm Merriweather, will also perform contemporary works from past Parthenia CDs by Richard Einhorn and Will Ayton, along with a cantata for voice and viols by the late Brooklyn composer Saville Clark.

Norderval, Olson, White and Einhorn will speak between pieces about their experiences working with Parthenia, learning about how to write for viol consort in a modern idiom. Parthenia has been performing works by these composers since 2008, including Norderval's Nothing Proved Can Be, Olson's Thorns, White's A Flower on the Farther Side and From a Fairy Tale, and Einhorn's Variations on La Follia and Audubon Fragments.

Seating will be café style and refreshments will be served. All tickets are $35. For more information, call 212-866-0468 or visit www.gemsny.org/events/parthenia.
