Paige Price Named Artistic Director of Theatre Aspen

Broadway Actress and Producer Paige Price has been named Artistic Director for Theatre Aspen where she will launch her inaugural season in June with Little Shop of Horrors.  The rest of the summer season will include Rounding Third, and Crimes of the Heart.  Price, who starred on Broadway in Saturday Night Fever, Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Smokey Joe's Café, first discovered Theatre Aspen when she appeared in their 2007 production of The Last Five Years.

Theatre Aspen hired Price to succeed David McClendon, who served as artistic director from 2004 until this summer.  Price will be in residence from late spring through Theatre Aspen's summer season, which typically concludes at the end of August.As an actor, Price has performed on and off-Broadway as well as in regional theatres and on national and international tours. She has shared the stage with stars such as Tony Bennett, Lou Rawls, Ben E. King, Pam Tillis, Jane Monheit and Gladys Knight. Price has also worked in film (All the Right Moves) and television ("Newhart," "Ed") and has hosted the Tony Awards' live Red Carpet web casts since 2002.  In 2005, Price was inducted into the League of Professional Theatre Women, and in 2007, she was appointed by Speaker Christine Quinn to serve on the Theatre Sub-District Council in New York City.

As a producer, Price's credits include the CBS special "Holiday in Bryant Park" and  "The Eyes Are The First Thing To Go," (now called "Midlife: The Crisis Musical!") which was selected for the inaugural 2005 New Musicals Festival in NYC. With the League of American Theatres and Producers and NYC & Company, she co-produced the annual summer concert Broadway Under the Stars (CBS); Broadway Meets Country, presented at Jazz at Lincoln Center in 2005; and many other large productions around the country and abroad. Price is currently First Vice President of Actors' Equity and has years of high-level experience negotiating with theatre producers on behalf of performers.
