In PRETTY FACES, The "other girl next door" finds fame and glamour at a beauty pageant for plus-sized women in this backstage musical that takes place on and off stage at the fictitious Miss Global Glamour Beauty Pageant." There is a strong sense of camaraderie and healthy compete-tiveness as the contestants share the wonder and novelty of being "Glamour Girls" for the first time in their lives. The audience is the Antagonist! They watch and follow each contestant's Cinderella trans-formation, from day one of rehearsals to the crowning moment of truth. Complete with two feuding stars, a love-struck stage manager, a baton-twirling Southern belle, and a spoiled rich girl. The result is a wickedly funny, yet strikingly poignant work

Mainstage Theatre/Actors Cabaret of Eugene, a 501-c-3 nonprofit corporation, has become one of the foremost theatrical havens of the west coast. Helmed by Executive Producer Jim Roberts and Artistic Director Joe Zingo they have spent the past 3 decades consistently producing quality theater productions ranging from the classics to the commercial to the off beat and edgy. ACE operates two theaters year round in the heart of Eugene's downtown center. The Cabaret produces a yearly season of popular musicals and comedies, while the Annex Theater operates as an Off-Broadway venue that offers more cutting edge theater. Their reputation for top theatrical entertainment has expanded their audience base to a hundred mile radius, drawing regular attendance from Ashland to Portland. In addition to their commercial venues, ACE Academy offers a variety of performing arts studies for children ages 7 years & older. The Academy programs help build self-esteem, while stressing a strong work ethic and self-discipline. The Academy produces three to six shows a year, giving young artists the opportunity to work backstage on costumes, lighting and sound as well as singing, dancing and acting, nurturing young people to excel in their development of their craft. In its' mission to expand theatrical horizons and bring the most vibrant theater to its local audience, ACE has produced more than twenty World Premieres, a dozen West Coast Premieres and almost one hundred Eugene, Oregon or Northwest Premieres. In 2003 The Actors Cabaret of Eugene launched its' sister theater program with New York's prestigious WorkShop Theater. An organization that shares their passion to create, develop and produce new playwrights, ACE's "New York Connections Project" works with writers, directors and producers in New York City to realize their shows in a full theatrical production and is rapidly turning Eugene Oregon into a new" out-of-town tryout venue" for writers and producers across the country.

Robert W. Cabell (Author/Composer/Lyricist) began performing with regional, summer stock and Dinner Theatres at the age of 14, and received his Equity card by the age of 20. After years of the Gypsy life he retired from performing to concentrate on his writing career. His previous Off-Broadway productions include the Sarah Bernhardt Trilogies in 2000 & 2001 at the Trilogy Theater, 1994 musical "Two Hearts Over Easy" at the Actors Playhouse, and the 1990 critically acclaimed Off-Broadway production of PRETTY FACES, directed by Gene Foote at The Actor's Outlet Theater. This production of PRETTY FACES is an updated version of with news scenes, new songs, a trimmed down cast of 8 with an updated book under the direction of Joe Zingo. PRETTY FACES is the second collaboration of Cabell, Zingo & Roberts at ACE. In 2000, Cabell's "Z – The Masked Musical of Zorro" received it's world premiere production at ACE, based on his 1999 Celebrity Concept CD which featured an all star cast that includes Pop Icon Deborah Gibson, Menudo's Ruben Gomez, EMI Solo Recording Star Roberto Blades, and a host of Broadway veterans that include Phyllis New Man, Kaye Ballard, Marc Kudisch, Christiane Noll, Rob Evan, Sean McDermott, Jeff McCarthy, and Lynn Halverson.. In 1984, Mr. Cabell was chose out of over 200 applicants to be one of the very first Librettist/Composers to participate in the Musical Theater Workshop, under Tony Stimack and Mark Herko, for his musicals Dragon Myth and Saccharine, which both received concert presentations of at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center. In addition to his theatrical credits, Mr. Cabell has a new graphic novel "Jayms Blonde Secret Agent 69" – "A Hairdresser Turns Hero" coming out this Fall, He was one of the founding editors for SHOUT Magazine and served as its Entertainment Editor and Theater critic from 1997-98. From 1995-1997, he designed, created and produced NY Post Gossip Columnist Cindy Adams AOL site, as well as supervising the filming of her three, weekly segments for the "E" Entertainment Network, Gossip Show. Mr. Cabell compiled and edited The Joey Adams Encyclopedia of Laughter for Dove Books. An avid reader of Sci-Fi and fantasy he is screenplay "Atlantis 2038", was inspired by his attendance of Hong Kong's 1997 Handover. Mr. Cabell is a regular judge for the Daytime Emmy Awards, and spent 1991-1993 working for Spelling international, developing, syndicating and marketing shows such as 90210 and Melrose Place.

Joe Zingo (Producing Artistic Director) is a veritable theatrical cottage industry. As a producer, director, choreographer, designer and teacher in the theatrical industry for the past 30 years, culminating in of 300 productions and students that have gone on to attend such luminary acting institutions as Yale, Carnegie-Mellon, Julliard, NYU, Depaul, Cal Arts and Cornish. Mr. Zingo's students can be seen working on and off Broadway, Television and Films, and in many regional and professional theaters, throughout the United States. With his partner Jim Roberts, Zingo runs Actors Cabaret of Eugene, a 99 seat dinner theater and a 75 seat Annex theater in Eugene, Oregon. With access to three other theaters, ranging from 500 to 2500 seats, they produce 14 to 18 shows per year, with the ability to tour the more popular productions. Together they have produced over 300 plays and musicals. In 2000 Zingo & Roberts launched their New York – Oregon connection with the world premiere of "Z" and in addition to this 2004 production of "PRETTY FACES" which was chosen out of over 200 international submissions to be part of the NYMF 2004 Premier Season, Zingo & Roberts have focused on producing, directing and developing new works from New York for the past four years. Other New York plays that have had their "out of Town Tryouts at ACE include "Sealed For Freshness" by Doug Stone, "Welcome to Touretteville" by June Ospa, "Sex: The Musical" by David Coffman, and as part of the East Coast-West Coast One-Act Festival, featuring "Certain Souls" by WorkShop Theater member Ken Javie. The overwhelming success of these productions have developed into a sister theater program and alliance with The WorkShop Theater here in New York, where this past April 2004, Mr. Zingo directed "The Following Morning" by Scott C. Sickles.

Jim Roberts (Executive Producer & Managing Director) A dominant figure in the Oregon Theatrical arena for thirty years. As co-founder of Mainstage Theater and Actors Cabaret he has served and their Executive producer since 1979. His passion for theater and drive to bring the most current productions to Eugene audiences evolved into annual sojourns to New York to search each NY seasons most innovative shows, both on and off Broadway. For this very reason, ACE has been the location of many west coast premiers of hit New York shows ranging from "Angels In America" to . In addition to his skills as a Producer and Managing Director, Roberts serves as both conductor and musical director for many of the large musicals as well as being a designer of sets, lights and sound for at least half of our shows each year.
