PIPPIN, TWELFTH NIGHT/RICHARD III, 'JANIS JOPLIN' & More to be Featured on WABC-7's Broadway Backstage: Fall Preview Tomorrow

This weekend, WABC-7 airs a half-hour special covering highlights of the 2013 fall season on Broadway, including A NIGHT WITH Janis Joplin, NO MAN'S LAND/WAITING FOR GODOT, PIPPIN, THE SNOW GEESE, TWELFTH NIGHT/RICHARD III, and more. "Broadway Backstage: Fall Preview" airs this Saturday, November 23 from 7:30-8:00PM.

Hosts Michelle Charlesworth and actor Zachary Quinto, starring in the current revival of THE GLASS MENAGERIE, take viewers behind the scenes at the most-talked-about dramas, revivals, and musicals of the fall Broadway season.

A NIGHT WITH Janis Joplin
Check out the powerful musical story of a rock legend at A NIGHT WITH Janis Joplin. Like a comet that burns far too brightly to last, Janis Joplin (Mary Bridget Davies) exploded onto the music scene in 1967 and, almost overnight, became the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll. NO MAN'S LAND/WAITING FOR GODOT
WABC sits down with Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen, stars of NO MAN'S LAND/WAITING FOR GODOT. In Harold Pinter's NO MAN'S LAND, two elderly writers, having met in a London pub, continue drinking and talking into the night. All might be well, until the return home of two younger men. Their relationships are exposed, with menace and hilarity, in one of Pinter's most entertaining plays. In Samuel Beckett's WAITING FOR GODOT, two wanderers wait by a lonely tree, to meet up with Mr. Godot, who they hope will change their lives for the better. Instead, another couple of eccentric travelers arrive, one man on the end of the other's rope. The results are both funny and dangerous. PIPPIN
Meet Broadway's royal couple Tony Award nominees Terrence Mann and Charlotte d'Amboise, the "King" and "Queen" of the hit musical who are married onstage and off. Learn how these two stage vets balance work and family life. Royal heir Pippin is spurred on by a mysterious group of performers to embark on a death-defying journey to find his "corner of the sky." THE SNOW GEESE
Go behind the scenes of Manhattan Theatre Club and MCC Theater's THE SNOW GEESE, starring Mary-Louise Parker, Danny Burstein, andVictoria Clark. With World War I raging abroad, newly widowed Elizabeth Gaesling (Mary-Louise Parker) gathers her family for their annual shooting party to mark the opening of hunting season in rural, upstate New York. TWELFTH NIGHT/RICHARD III
The repertory productions of TWELFTH NIGHT/RICHARD III are a highlight of this season's influx of Shakespeare on Broadway. Both plays are presented with an all-male company playing both male and female roles, as the plays were originally staged in Shakespeare's day. Outrageous high comedy ensues as the pangs of unrequited love affect the unforgettable characters of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT. While the lovelorn Duke Orsino plots to win the heart of the mourning Olivia (Mark Rylance), an alliance of servants and hangers-on scheme against the high handedness of Olivia's steward, the pompous Malvolio (Stephen Fry). When Orsino engages the cross-dressed Viola (Samuel Barnett), who has disguised herself as a young man under the name Cesario, to plead with Olivia on his behalf, a bittersweet and hilarious chain of events follows. In RICHARD III, Richard Duke of Gloucester (Mark Rylance) is determined that he should wear the crown of England. He has already dispatched one king and that king's son; now all that stands in his way are two credulous brothers and two helpless nephews - the Princes in the Tower. And woe betide those - the women he wrongs, the henchmen he betrays - who dare to raise a voice against him. Monstrous, but theatrically electric, Richard is Shakespeare's most charismatic, self-delighting villain, reveling at every moment in his homicidal, hypocritical journey to absolute power.
