Slant Theatre Project has announced that the next live episode of ON THIS ISLAND, their ongoing live theatrical podcast series, will be staged and recorded at Ars Nova, 511 West 54th Street in NYC on Tuesday, February 25th, 2014 at 8pm.

ON THIS ISLAND, Episode #8 "Siren Song" will be hosted by company co-founder Adam Knight. Performers will include opera sensation Anita Rachvelishvili (The Metropolitan Opera's Carmen and Prince Igor), author Jen McGuire, folk singer Jay Brannan (Around The World In 80 Jays), filmmaker Jeff Seal, actor-writer Jiehae Park(2013 Princess Grace Award), resident musician Phil Pickens, and more to be announced. Joseph Ward will direct the evening.

Each year, 250,000 people move to NYC. Who stays? Who leaves? And with more people moving in than out, is the number of years you choose to inhabit this island a blessing or a curse? Through live music, song, personal stories and short fiction, ON THIS ISLAND, Ep. 8 "Siren Song" invites the audience to explore their long-term relationship with this port of call. Is its siren song to be trusted?

ON THIS ISLAND is an ongoing, live theatrical event - a night of storytelling for NYC to replenish the charms and mysteries that brought us to this island on the edge of America. Each episode is performed live, then uploaded as a podcast (available on iTunes).ON THIS ISLAND draws from a uniquely New York cross-section of theater artists, musicians, and personalities to fill in the lives of the faces we flash by on the street. Mixing short fiction, personal stories, short plays, and song, each live episode weaves around a chosen theme.


Created in early 2012, ON THIS ISLAND has moved from the People's Improv Theater to a standing slot at Ars Novaand a popular presence on iTunes. Some previous contributors include singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, actors Lucas Kavner and Kelly McCreary, the founders of the Bronx Brewery, Broadway's Chad Goodridge and Mackenzie Meehan, playwrights Rachel Bonds, Greg Keller and Matt Moses, and indie darlings The Hollows. Slant producers are Wes Grantom, Adam Knight, Mat Smart and Matt Dellapina.
