Avenue Q, the 2004 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical, will make its West Coast debut at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego in the summer of 2007.

The production will run June 30 through August 5, 2007 at the Spreckels Theatre.  The show joins the Old Globe's previously-announced 2007 summer season, which also includes Hamlet, Measure for Measure, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona (which will be presented as part of the theatre's Shakespeare Festival).  Two more production--one to play the Old Globe Theatre and one the Cassius Carter Centre Stage--will also be announced.

"Producing Avenue Q at this important downtown theatre is another milestone for The Old Globe. We are thrilled to bring this entertaining Broadway hit to San Diego audiences. Avenue Q has a distinctively 'downtown' sensibility, and we think it is the perfect show for the Globe's return to The Spreckels,"  stated executive director Louis Spisto.

Avenue Q blends puppets and people in a sweetly R-rated tale of love, sex, friendship and the search for purpose. Avenue Q, which continues to be a hit on Broadway at the John Golden Theatre, is directed by Jason Moore, and features a Tony Award-winning book by Jeff Whitty and a Tony Award-winning book by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx.  A hit London production of the show opened this summer, as well.

Tickets for Avenue Q will also be available as part of Broadway/San Diego's 2007-2008 subscription season.  Visit www.theoldglobe.org for more information and subscriptions.
