OUT OF WHACK: The All Kids Rock Music Workshop Held At TNC 6/14-6/17

Theater For The New City (Crystal Field, Executive Artistic Director) will present the initial performances of Out Of Whack: The All-Kids Rock Musical Workshop on Sunday, June 14; Monday, June 15; Tuesday, June 16, and Wednesday, June 17 at 8:00 PM. Featuring a creative team and cast of kids and teens, ages 9-19, that includes Daniel Chelemer, Nicole DeLuca, Jacky Gold, Jessica Lieberman, Heather Levinson, Sara Ravid, Chloe Roe, Rebecca Sichel, and Yuval Talby, Out Of Whack is the story of a group of peers who come to realize they are growing up too fast. The entire show was created throughout the course of this past "school year" in weekly sessions. Writer Rachel Fleiss, a high-school senior, worked with the performers to develop themes, characters, songs, and the script under the guidance of active NY theater professionals: writer/director/songwriter Matt Okin (Soul Searching, Generations, Cherry Hill, One Innocent Woman, A Match Made In Manhattan, Destinations, Second Chances, Twist of Faith), assistant director Giselle D'Souza (Two Beans' national tour of James & The Giant Peach; Wildlife Theater at The Central Park Zoo), vocal director/arranger Jonathan Kaplan (Soul Searching, Generations), bandleader/arranger Jon Taub (Soul Searching, Generations), and production stage manager Mandy Decker (Urban Youth Theater, Children's Theater Company, Soul Searching). Many of the young performers in Out Of Whack have professional NY and regional acting credits, and many of Matt Okin's previous shows were initially developed at TNC throughout the past six years.Videos
