"Greetings from Tim Buckley," which centers around Tim Buckley and his son Jeff, the singer who launched a critically acclaimed music career that was cut short by his 1997 death, has completed its main casting.

Ben Rosenfield (Through a Glass Darkly) is set to play the title character, while Penn Badgley (TV's 'Gossip Girl') will play his son.

Also joining the cast are Jessica Stone, currently appearing on Broadway in Anything Goes, and Norbert Leo Butz, who will finish out his Tony Award winning performance in Catch Me if You Can on September 4. They will play concert producers Hal Wilner and Janine Nichols.

According to a report from Variety, what differentiates this film from the others being made - including the recently announced untitled biopic starring Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark star Reeve Carney - is that "in addition to music rights from the Buckley estate, the production has Lucas, the Grammy-nominated songwriter who co-wrote "Grace" and "Mojo Pin" with Buckley, playing and rehearsing with Badgley as a consultant. Additionally, Wilner and Nichols, who produced the original Tim Buckley tribute concert, are also organizing a recreation of the St. Ann's concert that will be filmed at the original venue."
