NewFilmmakers remembers the Triangle Fire ninety-nine years ago.

The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York City on March 25, 1911, was one of the largest industrial disasters in the history of the city of New York, causing the death of 146 garment workers, most of them women, who either died from the fire or jumped from the fatal height.

Domestic Worker United WORK AND RESPECT
200,000 women work in New York homes as housekeepers and nannies. Mostly women of color and often undocumented, their work is not covered by labor law.

A comprehensive depiction of the Italian American experience in the United States and traces their social, economic, and poltical transformation. The film includes the stories of the Italian migrant garment workers who perished in the fire. Historian Gerald Meyer will introduce the film and discuss the fire.
