Tonight, May 23rd, NewFilmmakers welcomes back the Women's Film Group as well as presents a Documentary Series and the feature CLOUDS STILL HANG.

NewFilmmakers' 6:00 PM Documentary Series presents films about health and wellness. In Dobb Schreiber THE YOGA CHAMPIONS (2011, 30 Minutes) husband and wife studio owners from Colorado compete in the 2011 International Yoga Asana Championships. In Marvelyne Engel THE DROP (2010, 7 minutes) a young man, newly blinded, is dropped off in an unknown location - miles from his destination - with the responsibility of finding his way back without asking for assistance. Emile Bokaer SON OF MACISTA (2010, 7 minutes) is a deeply personal account of the shocking onset of serious mental illness, a filmmaker's tribute to his father for taking great care of him through one of the more difficult times in his life. Timothy Farrell THE WALKING HOSPITAL (2011, 24 minutes) is a documentary about a small group of practitioners trained in an ancient form of Chinese field medicine as they travel to remote outposts helping those in need.

NewFilmmakers' 7:30 PM Special Program ANOTHER EXPERIMENT by WOMEN curated by Lili White presents SUMMER OF FLORA & FAUNA SHOW. In Astrid Busch SILHOUETTE (2011, 6 minutes) the idyllic life in a small peaceful village is briefly interrupted by rain. Ann Steuernagel THE GARDEN (2011, 10 minutes) is a reflection on climate change created from found, recycled film footage. In Lori Felker THIS IS MY SHOW: WORKING WITH NATURE (2011, 14 minute) hostess Adrienne presents the very best in high quality, high definition gardening television. Kyja Kristjana LANDSLAG (2011, 4 minutes) shows the natural forces that physically and metaphysically shape the Skagafjordur region of Iceland. In Lili White THE OCTOPUS (2011, 6 minutes) the world ignores warnings that could possibly save it while heading towards apocalypse. In Ann Deborah Levy WATERCOLORS (2011, 13 minutes) the surface of a pond serves as a canvas on which nature creates a continually changing painting that mirrors but alters details of the landscape surrounding it. And Kate Balsley ANIMA MUNDI (2011, 4 minutes) celebrates the beauty of the natural world.

The 9:15 PM Feature Presentation is Connor and Ryan White CLOUDS STILL HANG (2011, 100 minutes). Atwater is a recent graduate with everything he could ever want, the girl, the job, the life. Yet, he feels trapped. He decides to quit his job, and plot his escape from it all. However, he becomes distracted along the way.

NewFilmmakers screens at Anthology Film Archives on the Lower East Side at 32 Second Avenue & 2nd Street. NewFilmmakers LA screens in the Stanley Kramer Theater at the Sunset Gower Studio and has become a leading showcase for new films in Hollywood.
