The Rubicon Theatre Company in Ventura, CA will present A Time for Love, a new two-character song cycle by Richard Maltby Jr. and David Shire.  It will be presented from February 1st through 25th, 2007.

Starring Lois Robbins ("Ryan's Hope") and Brian Sutherland (The Light in the Piazza tour), the show is about two characters who "fall in love, come together, marry and grow apart. The story begins at the first instant a spark ignites and continues over a lifetime of working, raising children and living in a complicated modern world. The production features familiar favorites as well as original songs by Broadway's dynamic duo Maltby and Shire," according to Rubicon notes.  Robbins and Sutherland starred in the show during its 2004 developmental production.

A Time for Love is conceived and directed by Maltby, with musical direction by Dean Mora.

As a team, Maltby and Shire have penned the song cycles Starting Here, Starting Now and Closer Than Ever, as well as the book musicals Baby and Big.  Maltby is currently contributing books and lyrics to the Broadway-bound The Pirate Queen.  He has also worked on lyrics for Miss Saigon, and created and directed the revues Ain't Misbehavin' and Ring of Fire.  Shire's other Broadway credits include Saturday Night Fever.  He has also scored dozens of films.
