During Saturday's performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a fan called out to Neil Patrick Harris, saying, "We Love You Neil!" Harris reportedly responded angrily with, "I'm doing something up here, motherf*cker!" Harris' representative, however, told Gossip Cop that this remark was taken completely out of context.

The rep stated, "The response to the fan yelling was actually done in character - Neil as Hedwig, not as though Neil stopped the show to respond out of character."

Hedwig and the Angry Inch welcomes audience interaction and the actors will play off the responses and improvise. When Harris responded to the fan, he responded as Hedwig. He meant no harm or insult anyone.

The rep explained, "When the fan initially yelled, 'I love you, Neil,' Neil (as Hedwig) then responded, 'Who's Neil? I'm not Neil.' He then looked over at Yitzhak (played by Lena Hall) and said, 'Are you Neil? You better not be Neil' followed by Hedwig then offering the quote in question."

About the show: "Internationally ignored song stylist" Hedwig Robinson (Neil Patrick Harris) brings her fourth-wall-smashing rock and roll saga to New York to set the record straight about her life, her loves, and the botched operation that left her with that "angry inch."
