Join the National Portrait Gallery as we honor five remarkable individuals whose portraits hang in our collection for their exemplary achievements in diverse fields. Enjoy cocktails, a seated dinner and a special performance with the goal of raising $1 million to establish an endowment for future exhibitions.

Recipients of the night's Portrait of a Nation Prize include baseball Hall of Famer Hank Aaron, Medal of Honor recipient Cpl. Kyle Carpenter, singer and musician Aretha Franklin, fashion designer Carolina Herrera and architect and artist Maya Lin.

The Founding Chairs of the American Portrait Gala are Wayne and Catherine Reynolds. The Co-Chairs are H.E. Ambassador Gérard Araud, Steve and Sheila Hamp, Robert and Arlene Kogod and David and Alice Rubenstein.
