NOF*CKSGIVEN Comes to Vault Festival

An outrageously funny and heartbreaking example of not giving a fuck. Well, sort of. This is Stacy's anti-slut-shaming tale. One weekend. With drugs. Go harder or go home(less).

Daisy King's debut play calls time on society's desire to label women. Written during a very exciting and powerful time to be a female writer, King's semi-autobiographical piece asks why we are all so desperate to be liked.

"I was shagging this bloke for a bit who'd shout Ramadan when he came. Which was odd because he was Jewish and my name isn't Dan."

Daisy King writes from a history of juxtaposed oppositions. After graduating from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and a successful career in theatre at Shakespeare's Globe, where she worked for 12 years, life then dealt her first-hand experience of hidden homelessness, mental health illnesses, social change and a long journey to recovery.

Through the support of charities, she was introduced to Clean Break Theatre Company who work with women by offering them emotional, pastoral and creative support. King developed her work and identity as a playwright and personally, gaining the confidence to embark on a career in script writing. The success of King's work has escalated quickly, with a full scale production at the King's Head Theatre and work being published by Bloomsbury.

Offie nominated Bruised Sky Productions, producers of controversial and dynamic plays such as Martin Murphy's Victim, present this darkly comic debut play by Daisy King. Bruised Sky Productions was founded in 2009 by director James Kermack and Writer/Artistic Director Martin Murphy. Never afraid to tackle a controversial subject matter, the artistic policy at Bruised Sky is to produce brave and dynamic writing. Always finding the untold stories, they produce hard-hitting theatre that gets their audience listening, thinking and talking. Bruised Sky work in association with writers and performers we believe in, with stories worth telling; winning awards at the 2017 Fringe with West End transfers.
