The film adaptation of August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play FENCES will welcome back another pair of Broadway actors.

According to Variety, Mykelti Williamson and Russell Hornsby have signed on to reprise their roles on screen, joining previously announced co-stars in the 2010 Broadway revival, Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. Jovan Adepo and Saniyya Sidney have also joined the cast.

Tony Kusher has penned the screenplay for the adaptation, which Washington will also direct.

Production on the film is slated to begin production later this month.

Kushner received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1993 for his play Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes. He co-authored with Eric Roth the screenplay for the 2005 film Munich, and he wrote the screenplay for the 2012 film Lincoln, both critically acclaimed movies. For his work, he received a National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama in 2013.

Fences is a 1983 play by American playwright August Wilson. Set in the 1950s, it is the sixth in Wilson's ten-part "Pittsburgh Cycle". Like all of the "Pittsburgh" plays, Fences explores the evolving African-American experience and examines race relations, among other themes. The play won the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 1987 Tony Award for Best Play. It was most recently revived on Broadway in 2010, starring Washington and Davis.
