Ron Magliozzi, who has organized over 50 film series and gallery exhibitions at The Museum of Modern Art since 1993, has been promoted to Curator in the Department of Film. Having joined the staff in 1979 as a supervisor of MoMA's International Film Study Center, Magliozzi specializes in collections research, development, and acquisitions, and has held the position of Associate Curator since 2011.

Rajendra Roy, The Celeste Bartos Chief Curator of Film, said, "Ron Magliozzi is a visionary collections and exhibitions curator whose work has resulted in historic discoveries and some of the most popular exhibitions in MoMA's history. More than a million people have experienced his work through exhibitions such as Pixar: 20 Years of Animation, Tim Burton, and Quay Brothers: The Pharmacist's Prescription for Lip-Reading Puppets, and his recent research on performer Bert Williams led to the discovery and first public screenings of the earliest (1913) feature film footage with an African American cast. Ron has been an essential part of the department for many decades and it is thrilling to see him step into this new leadership role."

Mr. Magliozzi has organized a number of groundbreaking exhibitions at MoMA, including 100 Years in Post-Production: Resurrecting a Lost Landmark of Black Film History, on the discovery of Bert Williams's Lime Kiln Club Field Day. The previously unidentified, 101-year-old film footage was selected by The Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry and won Magliozzi the 2014 Film Heritage Award from the National Society of Film Critics. He also organized the blockbuster exhibition Tim Burton (2009), which included a film series and a gallery exhibition that focused on work generated by the filmmaker during the process of conception, development, and production of his films, including works on paper and sculpted in various mediums, and work in digital and moving-image formats.
