Tony Award-winner Michele Pawk has left the cast of Mamma Mia!; she played her final performance in the Broadway production of the hit musical on February 20th.
No official reason was given for the premature departure of Pawk, who re-joined the show on February 8th after having taken a few months off from the hit ABBA musical due to a bruised vocal chord. She had started in Mamma Mia! on October 19th, 2005 opposite husband John Dossett (The Constant Wife, Gypsy), who continues to play Sam Carmichael. Pawk was to have stayed with the show for a year.Corinne Melançon (Kiss Me, Kate, Jekyll & Hyde), Pawk's understudy, is now playing the role of Donna Sheridan.Pawk received a Tony Award for her performance in Hollywood Arms. Other Broadway credits include Seussical, Cabaret, Triumph of Love, Chicago, Crazy for You and Mail. She created the role of Nellie in the out-of-town tryout run of Sondheim's Bounce, and has been seen off-Broadway in The Paris Letter, Reefer Madness, john & jen, Merrily We Roll Along and Hello Again.
