Aaron Weinstein makes his Metropolitan Room debut in his new club act, "Have Strings, Will Swing," a show which combines genial wit and erudition with spell-binding musicianship. Backed by two of New York's most gifted and youngest side-men - the very young Tedd Firth on piano and the pretty young Tom Hubbard on bass - the even younger Weinstein shows why Downbeat Magazine calls him "a rising star," and Nat Hentoff, writing in the Wall Street Journal, said he's ushering in "the rebirth of the hot jazz violin." This is the 25-year-old phenom's first major New York run.

The four-show engagement performs Wednesday April 20 at 9:30pm, Tuesday April 26 at 7pm, Wednesday May 11 at 9:30pm and Monday May 23 at 7pm.

A featured soloist, Weinstein has played at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Blue Note, Birdland and Wolftrap. The 2011 Nightlife Award winner has collaborated with such jazz luminaries as Les Paul, Scott Hamilton, Dave Frishberg, Annie Ross, Dick Hyman, Jessica Molaskey, and Bucky Pizzarelli. With John Pizzarelli, Weinstein recorded his newest release, "Blue Too." The highly praised duo album came out on the Arbor Records label in 2008. Weinstein's first recording with Arbor, "A Handful of Stars" (2005), made him the venerable jazz label's youngest-ever recording artist.

Wise beyond his years, Weinstein has been called "the Groucho of violin" by Tony Bennett. But unlike one of his heroes, Jack Benny, this kid can really play!

"Have Strings, Will Swing" was seen for one night only in February at The Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room. It plays four nights at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street -- Wednesday April 20 at 9:30pm, Tuesday April 26 at 7pm, Wednesday May 11 at 9:30pm and Monday May 23 at 7pm. Weinstein's music charge is $20.
