Legacy 36, LLC in association with The Ziegfeld Society of New York City will present ON TAP!: From Broadway To The Silver Screen, a song and dance show celebrating tap dancing stars, styles and traditions starring The Legacy Dancers: A Line of Former Rockettes with guest stars Mercedes Ellington and Lee Roy Reams tonight, March 14th. ON TAP! is co-produced, directed and choreographed by Mary Six Rupert and Karyn Tomczak.

Mercedes Ellington gained international attention in 1963 as the first black member of the June Taylor Dancers. Her Broadway appearances include SOPHISTICATED LADIES and she choreographed UPTOWN IT'S HOT and PLAY ON! Lee Roy Reams received a Tony Award nomination for the original production of 42ND STREET and also starred on Broadway in THE PRODUCERS, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, BEAUTY & THE BEAST, and he directed and choreographed the 1995 revival of HELLO, DOLLY! Starring Carol Channing. The Legacy Dancers--A Line of Former Rockettes features Caitlin Cannon, Brittany Cattaruzza, Ann Cooley, Katherine Corp, Kimberly Corp, Kathy Dacey, Jean Marie, Setsuko Maruhashi (who made history in 1985 as the first East-Asian Rockette), Victoria Puza, Jennifer Saunders, Tiffany Seda, Karyn Tomczak. The cast also includes Tomlee Abraham, Gillian Fink, Emily Golden, Katherine Naronis, Lucy Panush, American Tap Dance Foundation, American Dance Theatre Workshop and The Western Carolina University Dancers & Singers. Costumes are by Alan Smith.

The Ziegfeld Society of New York City is a non-profit organization founded by Executive Producer Mark York (pianist and co-arranger for The Roundabout's acclaimed production of JUST JIM DALE which will open in West End on May 26th) and Lucy Kerman in 2009 and named for legendary Broadway producer Florenz Ziegfeld, best known for his annual ZIEGFELD FOLLIES and the original production of SHOW BOAT. The Society aspires to enlighten, entertain and educate current as well as future generations of theatergoers and young artists about the legendary performers, songwriters and creators of our musical theater heritage from the early decades of the 20th century, through Broadway's Golden Age and beyond. The Ziegfeld Society presents intimate monthly performances featuring award winning Broadway performers performing alongside young up and coming artists, presentations by authors, and screenings of lost film and television musicals at The Paley Center followed by seminars with the stars, such as THE HELEN MORGAN STORY with star Polly Bergen, hosted by Rex Reed. Past productions have featured performers including Tony nominees Penny Fuller, Anita Gillette, Carol Lawrence, Jane Summerhays, Walter Willison, Tony Award winning conductor Donald Pippin, Klea Blackhurst and others. The Society also provides outreach programs for both students and senior citizens.

ON TAP! will be presented at 6:00PM on Saturday, March 14th at The Miller Theater at Columbia University (at 116th Street & Broadway).
