Jazz Vocalist Myrna Lake died November 5, 2010, from complications of heart disease. She had a defibrillator and in the past year or two, received excellent care in the hands of her son Louis. Myrna sang at Small's right up until the moment that she couldn't continue. Myrna sang in Jimmy Butts' Sunday brunch band at Cajun

Restaurant for many years. She taught at Jazzmobile. She had a large following and was considered by musicians as one of the finest, most natural and talented singers around. She was a genius of song.

The memorial service for Myrna Lake will be held Monday, February 21, at 7:15 pm at Saint Peter's Church, 54th Street between Lexington Ave and 3rd Ave., New York. Lots of help is needed with organizing food, photos, video, recordings of Myrna, as well as someone to bring a guest book, sit at the door, stage hands, refreshments, production of written program. And more. Please contact Carol Sudhalter sudsaxter@gmail.com or 917 667 5331 or through facebook, and tell as many folks as possible, especially those who are older and may not have access to email.

If you have a sentence of tribute you would like to write about her, please send it to me and I will compile all of them as an insert for the written program.
