Melba Moore to Perform at Bartlett Performing Arts Center

Melba Moore is live in concert at the Bartlett Performing Arts Center.

Melba Moore started on Broadway in the original cast of HAIR. She went on to win a Tony Award for the role of Lutiebelle in PURLIE. She appeared on Broadway opposite Eartha Kitt in TIMBUKTU!. She was the first African-American actress to play Fantine in LIS MISERABLES. She was also in the Broadway revival of AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'. More recently Melba was see on Broadway in BROOKLYN.

Nominated for four Gammy Awards, Melba Moore also had a successful music career. She sang with Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick and others. Moore had 11 Top 10 R&B/Pop songs on Billboard. Charted hits include songs like: This Is It and Loves Comin At Ya. Her Lean On Me and Read My Lips both received Grammy nominations. Over a period of 40 years, Melba Moore has been one of the most enduring artists of the 21st century.

Moore continues to perform as an actress on stage, in television and in film. She was featured in the movie, The Fighting Temptations, which starred Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Beyoncé Knowles.

Melba Moore was named an American Aural Treasure by the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress.
