Maureen McGovern, who is currently delighting audiences with her moving portrayal of Marmee in the new Broadway musical Little Women, will lend her "Stradivarious Voice" to a worthy cause in ONE ENCHANTED EVENING, a special, one-night-only benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Presented by R/J Productions, the concert will take place at Birdland (located at 315 West 44th Street) on Monday, April 11 at 9 p.m. Jeff Harris will be McGovern's Musical Director for the concert.

"I have always been tremendously moved and impressed by the determined and very heartfelt efforts of Broadway Care/Equity Fights AIDS," McGovern remarks. "As a member of New York's performing arts community and a firm believer in BC/EFA's very important mission, I am delighted to give the gift of song on this very enchanted evening to help such a worthwhile cause."

McGovern is currently wowing audiences as Marmee in the new Broadway musical Little Women. She has starred on Broadway in The Pirates of Penzance, Nine, and 3 Penny Opera, appeared in the Broadway National Tour of The King and I, and garnered rave reviews for her portrayal of Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls at the Sheraton Desert Inn in Las Vegas. McGovern's successful recording career began with her chart-topping recordings of the Academy Award-winning songs The Morning After and We May Never Love Like This Again. Her talents range from pop to jazz to the Broadway stage, and she is a much sought-after guest artist with every major symphony from the Boston Pops to the New York Pops. Her numerous concert appearances include the Oscar Hammerstein 100th Birthday Celebration in New York, Carnegie Hall Celebrates the Music of Frank Sinatra, a successful 43-city tour with Mercer Ellington and the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and numerous sold-out shows at New York's famed nightspots Feinstein's, Le Jazz Au Bar, and the Algonquin. Her many recordings include the CDs The Music Never Ends: The Lyrics of Alan and Marilyn Bergman and Out of This World: McGovern Sings Arlen, and the Oscar-winning "The Morning After."

Maureen McGovern devotes a considerable amount of time to numerous charities. She is the Founder of the Maureen McGovern "Works of Heart" Foundation for Music and Healing, and is Artistic Spokesperson for The American Music Therapy Association. For the past twenty-five years, she has been actively involved with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) of which she serves on the national board and has been a frequent co-host of Jerry Lewis' annual Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.
