The Shakespeare Society (Michael Sexton, Artistic Director) will present An Evening of Antony & Cleopatra, a "candid and revealing look at two of Shakespeare's greatest lovers."  Moderated by Columbia professor, author and Shakespearean expert Kristin Linklater, Elizabeth Marvel and Byron Jennings will play the two titans in selected scenes.  The cast also includes Kristine Nielsen, Peter Jay Fernandez, Bill Buell and Sean McNall.  The show will take place on Monday, September 26th at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

"Who are Antony and Cleopatra?," query press notes. "Is he the resolute soldier or the moody lover? Is she the steadfast champion of Egypt or the jealous mistress? Does love change or reveal our true selves? And why are the sexiest speeches preludes to suicide? Directed by Michael Sexton, these questions and others will be explored in this 90-minute evening that offers a few choice dishes from the lavish feast of Shakespeare's most erotic love story."

Marvel has appeared on Broadway in An American Daughter, Taking Sides and The Seagull.  Other theater credits include Terrorism at the New Group; A Secondhand Memory at Atlantic Theatre Company; Hedda Gabler (OBIE Award), A Streetcar Named Desire (OBIE Award), and Play Yourself, all at New York Theatre Workshop; Therese Raquin (OBIE Award) at Classic Stage Company; Misalliance (OBIE Award) at Roundabout Theatre Company; and Troilus and Cressida and King Lear at New York Shakespeare Festival.

Jennings has appeared on Broadway and Off-Broadway in Noises Off, Sight Unseen, Twelve Angry Men, The Man Who Came to Dinner, A Month in the Country, Henry IV, Dinner at Eight, The Merchant of Venice and Pericles.

Linklater co-founded Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts in 1977.  She is a Guggenheim Fellow and a lecturer, writer, and actor, playing the title role in King Lear, produced by The Company of Women, her all-women Shakespeare Company. She is the author of Freeing the Natural Voice and Freeing Shakespeare's Voice and is a professor at Columbia University.

The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College is located at 68th Street between Park & Lexington Avenues.  Limited tickets, priced at $25-$40, are available from The Kaye Box Office at (212) 772-4448.
