For eight performances (week ending Sunday, July 31, 2005) the National Tour of  MAMMA MIA! grossed C$1,404,449. at The National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada. MAMMA MIA! opened its first ever Canadian tour in Montreal on July 12. Following the Ottawa engagement through August 14, MAMMA MIA! will visit Regina, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver before returning to the States in October.

The U.S. tour of MAMMA MIA! was recently awarded the 2005 "Touring Broadway Award" (formerly the National Broadway Theatre Award) by the League of American Theatres and Producers. To date, the U.S tours of MAMMA MIA! have played over 2,949 performances, generating an accumulated box office gross of over $ 337 million in  85 cities (with 37 repeat visits). The U.S. tour is currently booked through April 2007.

With more productions playing simultaneously around the world than any other musical -11 productions in 6 languages - MAMMA MIA! is the world's number one show!  From West End smash to global phenomenon, MAMMA MIA! has been seen by over 23 million people across North America, Australasia, Europe and Asia.  

The first Canadian production of MAMMA MIA! opened in Toronto in May 2000, just over a year after the London premiere, and was the first international opening.  Originally booked for a 26 week limited engagement, the Toronto production of MAMMA MIA! ran longer than the local productions of 'The Lion King,' The Producers' and 'Hairspray', and was the longest show in the 96-year history of the Royal Alexandra Theatre.  After a five-year run, the production grossed over $C170 million at the box office and was seen by more than 3 million people.

Inspired by the story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs, writer Catherine Johnson's irresistible tale of family and friendship unfolds on a fantasy Greek island.  On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings 3 men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. 

With music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, MAMMA MIA! is written by Catherine Johnson and directed by Phyllida Lloyd. MAMMA MIA! has choreography by Anthony Van Laast, production design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.

MAMMA MIA! is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal.
